God Hears When I Pray

A Truth to Live – Every prayer offered to God matters.  They don’t bounce off the walls or fade away unnoticed. God hears and answers every prayer offered in faith and responds to those who believe in Him and in the saving power of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Scripture – “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”  Matthew 21:22

Prayer – Heavenly Father, how I praise You today for being alive and caring for my needs.  Thank You for listening to me and granting me the opportunity to believe and follow You. I believe in You and will expect Your good and righteous hand to direct my day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Gives the Power to do Right

A Truth to Live – The standards of the world change with the seasons and are amended by new leaders, icons and the morals around me.  But God’s standard never changes. He expects righteous behavior, pure thoughts and a heart that is motivated toward Him. The only way for me to find salvation is through the grace offered to us by God’s own Son.

Scripture – “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.”   Matthew 5:21-22

Prayer – Loving and Merciful God, I admit today that my heart is not inclined toward good and that my intentions are often misdirected.  I ask that You rescue me from my own shortcomings and, by Your mighty hand, make a way for me to be saved. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus is My Savior

A Truth to Live – I found it!  The search is over right now. Knowing that left alone I couldn’t find my way to a life of blessing and eternity with Him, God made a way for me to be united with Him!  He sent His only Son, Jesus to be my Savior.

Scripture – “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”  Matthew 1:21

Prayer – Heavenly Father, I am grateful today that the search is over.  I no longer need to pursue other avenues of knowledge or religion to find peace in my heart! You have given me eternal life and blessings today through the life of Your Son, Jesus.  I surrender anew to Him and receive Him as my Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen

God Loves Right and Hates Wrong

A Truth to Live – Every day my mind is filled with the opinions of others.  I read about them in the newspaper, listen to them on the radio, watch them on TV or hear them from family and friends.  But, there is One whose voice is real and true and whose word will never fail. When I listen to God, He will always lead me the right way.

Scripture – “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”  Zephaniah 3:17

Prayer – Gracious and Loving Father, I am thankful for You!  How awesome it is that my heart can be filled with Your Spirit and my mind filled with Your wisdom.  I praise You today for Your loving-kindness and mercy that You have extended to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s Directions Are Good

Truth – Ever been lost? The best way to find both where I am and where I want to be is to use an accurate map. Like many people, however, sometimes I rely on my own instincts to get me out of trouble.  The next time I am faced with uncertainty or feel lost, I will choose God’s ways and the truth of His Word. He is never wrong.

Scripture – “The word of the LORD came to Jonah son of Amittai: ‘Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.’ But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish.”  Jonah 1:1-3a

Prayer – Heavenly Father, today I choose to listen to the strength of Your Word and direction of Your voice.  Help me to not turn my attention to the opinions of others or even to depend on my own instincts. I know that You will be honored and I will be set on the right course when I follow You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s Ways are Right

A Truth to Live – God has never made a mistake. He always knows what is right, does what is right and makes it possible for me to live right!  He is powerful and personal, mighty and merciful and His greatest desire is to be able to share His love with me.

God’s ways are found in His Word.  They can heal my heart and shape my mind to make wise choices.

Scripture – “The ways of the LORD are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.”  Hosea 14:9b

Prayer – Eternal God, how I thank You today that Your ways are righteous and true.  Help me to depend on Your wisdom today and not on the counsel of those who do not have my best interests in mind.  I will praise You with all my being and be satisfied with Your direction. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s Ways are the Best

A Truth to Live – Every decision I make has consequences that impact me and those around me.  I can make the best choices when I am guided by the truth and power of God’s Word. He knows how to navigate through life’s twists and turns, and He is able to protect me from evil.  Choosing His ways is always the best decision.

Scripture – “But you must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and wait for your God always.” Hosea 12:6

Prayer – Gracious and Eternal God, thank You for knowing which direction I should go, what words I should speak and how I should treat others.  I am grateful that I can turn to You and find the answers to my needs today, hope and purpose for my tomorrows. You are great and so gracious and loving to share Your mercy with me. Thank You, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

God is the Great Rescuer

A Truth to Live – Placing my life in the hands of God is the best decision I will ever make.  Since He created me and the world around me, He knows what is best and has the power to help me walk through the trials of life with hope, peace and the power of His love.  Even if I feel that I have walked too far in the wrong direction to receive His free gift of forgiveness and love, God is still there waiting to rescue me back to Himself.

Scripture – “I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel…For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end.  He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.” Daniel 6:26-27

Prayer – Heavenly Father, thank You for helping me walk through the trials of life with hope, peace and power You provide, and that even when I take a wrong turn, You rescue me and bring me back to Your love. I am grateful for Your loving kindness and forgiveness.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Can Create a New Heart

A Truth to Live – God has the power to make all things new.  He can restore areas of my heart that have been wounded by the words of others; mend relationships and bring hope to circumstances that look like they are beyond repair.  He is good, He is God and He is ever powerful to share His life-giving love with others.

Scripture – “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26

Prayer – Gracious and Loving God, how I thank You for Your eternal love and Your commitment to create in me a clean and pure heart. Help me today to exchange my brokenness and weariness for the strength that comes from Your forgiving and cleansing love.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s Love Puts Others First

A Truth to Live – I live in a “me first” generation where people focus their time and energy on self-benefiting plans and dreams. But God’s ways are different.  He has created me to love others, to think the best of them, to care for others and to bless those in need. When I follow His ways I always experience the power of His presence.

Scripture – “The word of the LORD came to me: ‘Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them: This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the shepherds of Israel who only take care of themselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock…You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally. So they were scattered because there was no shepherd, and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild animals. My sheep wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. They were scattered over the whole earth, and no one searched or looked for the’.”  Ezekiel 34:1-6

Prayer – Heavenly Father, How grateful I am today that Your love extends to me.  Teach me to look after the needs of others just as You love and care for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Fulfills His Word

A Truth to Live – It can seem at times like God has pushed “pause” or given a “delay” to the promises of His Word.  In reality, in Jesus all the promises of God are now a “yes and amen”. When His promises seem to be on hold I will ask God to reveal more of Himself to me so that I can know and understand His purposes more fully.

Scripture – “The word of the LORD came to me: Son of man, what is this proverb you have in the land of Israel: ‘The days go by and every vision comes to nothing’? Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am going to put an end to this proverb, and they will no longer quote it in Israel.’ Say to them, ‘The days are near when every vision will be fulfilled. For there will be no more false visions or flattering divinations among the people of Israel. But I the LORD will speak what I will, and it shall be fulfilled without delay. For in your days, you rebellious house, I will fulfill whatever I say, declares the Sovereign LORD’.”   Ezekiel 12:21-25

Prayer – Eternal God, I ask that You would align my thoughts, my will and my life to the power of Your Word.  Help me to see the fulfillment of Your promises in my life! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Reigns

A Truth to Live – God reigns. Today, tomorrow and forever. He has always been in charge and always will be.  He is not threatened by the words of men and their gods. He alone reigns forever and ever. How awesome it is that the God who reigns chooses to love and cherish me!

Scripture – “You, O LORD, reign forever; your throne endures from generation to generation.” Lamentations 5:19

Prayer – Heavenly Father, You reign!  Today, tomorrow and forever. I rest in You knowing that Your words are true, Your wisdom is right and Your kindness is just.  Teach me today to live with the mercy You give and extend Your love to those I see. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

By God’s Grace

A Truth to Live – Many believe that by their own strength they can muster the courage and strength to withstand the storms of life and navigate well.  But actually the opposite is true. Left to myself I am always lost, my heart is broken, and my destiny shattered. But God’s grace enables me to find Him and to follow His path toward a life that is holy and pure.

Scripture – “How deserted lies the city, once so full of people! How like a widow is she, who once was great among the nations! She who was queen among the provinces has now become a slave.” Lamentations 1:1

Prayer – Gracious Father, today I choose to receive Your grace and acknowledge that You alone are my King and my God.  I will follow You alone and look to You as my source of direction, guidance and comfort. Thank You for being with me in every situation! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Answers

A Truth to Live – The twists and turns of life often bring surprising questions to my mind.  Too often I attempt to solve these riddles of life on my own instead of turning to the one who created life itself.  The best way forward is to call on God, because He promised to hear attentively and to respond to my need.

Scripture – “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3

Prayer – Gracious Father, thank You for being alive and attentive to my needs.  I admit to You that sometimes it is difficult for me to realize that You always desire good for me.  Today I will call to You and then expect Your revelation to make sense of my today and my tomorrow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s Word Has Power

A Truth to Live – There are many promises made every day by well-intentioned people.  Some of their words will come to pass and some will not. But the words of the Eternal God have infinite power, will never fail and are always at work to accomplish His mission.

Scripture – “‘Let the prophet who has a dream tell his dream, but let the one who has my word speak it faithfully. For what has straw to do with grain?’ declares the LORD. ‘Is not my word like fire,’ declares the LORD, ‘and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?’” Jeremiah 23:28-29

Prayer – Eternal God, I am thankful that Your Word is true - always true and never failing.  What You promise will come to pass and what You decree will be. I humble myself today under the authority of Your loving Son and the power of Your Word.  Help me to be obedient as I grow in my relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

There is No One Like Our God

A Truth to Live – The world is full of man-made idols and ideologies that cripple my thoughts and deaden my heart. But God is both life giving and lives forevermore.  When I pray, He listens because He is there to love and guide me toward all truth and love. He alone is God.

Scripture – “Who should not revere you, O King of the nations? This is your due. Among all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is no one like you. They are all senseless and foolish; they are taught by worthless wooden idols.”

Jeremiah 10:7-8

Prayer – Holy and Eternal God, today I place my complete allegiance and commitment to You.  I will no longer follow any idols or ideologies that come between me and You, or the truth of Your Word.  Help me to remain faithful to You and to share Your goodness with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God has a Destiny for Me

A Truth to Live – I am not here by chance or the product of a coincidence.  God formed me, designed me, and has something uniquely good for me to do while I am here on this earth.  I will never allow any other message to be true in my life – God loves me, and He has incredible plans for my life.

Scripture – “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”  Jeremiah 1:5

Prayer – Eternal and Ever Powerful God, thank You for loving me and creating me uniquely to accomplish something for You on this earth.  Many of those around me live in despair because they have been taught that fate has pre-determined their days. Or even worse, that there is no meaning for their lives.  Help me, God to live in the truth of Your Word and to remember today that You have set me apart to glorify You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s Word Always Accomplishes Its Purpose

A Truth to Live – God’s Word is true, active and is always at work to accomplish its purposes.  There is not one promise, decree or warning in Scripture that can be limited or thwarted by another power.  Since there is no other God, His Word is supreme.

Scripture – “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Isaiah 55:10-11

Prayer – Eternal God, I am thankful today that Your words are true and never change!  Because I have submitted my life to You and received Your Son Jesus into my life, Your Word is at work in me!  I am so grateful that You are patient and kind and working in my life so that I can be conformed more each day into Your image.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

There is One God

A Truth to Live – I live in an age of pluralism where all things are leveled to be equal. But God is not one among many gods from which to choose.  He is the only one true and living God. As the Creator, Sustainer and Redeemer of my world God alone is the One who can speak life into any situation.

Scripture – “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.”

Isaiah 45:22

Prayer –  Heavenly Father, I am grateful today that You alone are God. You were before all things began, You are and You will be.  There is no competition or challenge to Your sovereignty or power. Yet You choose to love and redeem those who willingly receive the gift of Your Son.  Help me today to be a true follower of You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s Word Stands Forever

A Truth to Live – God is ever trustworthy and His character is consistent and wholly good. Even the thoughts and opinions of those around me may shift, change or even contradict one another, I can count on God’s Word to be filled with His mercy, righteousness and justice.

Scripture – “The grass withers and the flowers fail, but the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8

Prayer – Heavenly Father, I am grateful today that Your Word is true, everlasting, and consistent with Your character. You never change and You are ever at work to fulfill the words of Scripture in our world. Help me today to focus on Your work in my world and not to be distracted by the short-lived opinions of those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
