God Speaks Louder When it is Silent

A Truth to Live – Most of my life is filled with noise.  Radios, TV, music and conversations fill the “space” of my mind and compete for my attention.  But the voice of God will not compete as an equal with any other input. When I learn to quiet my soul and reduce the noise around me there is usually a still small whisper of truth.

Scripture – “The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by. Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind.

After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.  After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.” 1 Kings 19:11-13a

Prayer – Gracious Father, I thank You today for Your patience and mercy.  Help me today to tune my ears away from the noise and interruptions of my day and find “space” to be still, to be quiet and to listen to the powerful truth and obedience of Your Word.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
